Autobiography

My name is John Nguyen and I am going to be a first generation college student. I have two loving parents and two younger siblings, one in third grade and one is a freshman at Westminster High School.

Most of my high school memories were made in football and swim. I have been in football and swim since freshman year ,and I have been teased for the weird combination because there are not many swimmers who play football and vice versa. However, the two sports allowed me to experience two different atmospheres and two different type of people. Football was more serious and team-oriented, where each person had a crucial role on the field and that if everyone does their job on both sides of the ball, the team will be successful. Swim was more mellow and is more of an individual sport, aside from relays. Swim forced me to be self motivated if I wanted to achieve my goals and helped me learn how to work alone. The two sports fueled my competitive drive, kept me physically healthy, and are my favorite ways to relieve stress from school. In addition to sports, I am also an Eagle scout. Only about six percent of all boy scouts in the U.S. achieve Eagle because of its difficulty and long journey. I have been in Boy Scouts since 2009 and it has played a huge role in my life. During my earlier years, I was able to meet older Boy Scouts who became my role models and helped me reach Eagle.

Future Goals

I plan to get my bachelor degree in business administration in four years at Cal State Long Beach with a minor in accounting or economics. During those four years, I hope to find a company that I can intern for to learn more about the discipline. After working a few years and becoming financially stable and independent, I plan to go back to school for my master's degree to expand my knowledge.
